Exclusive Interview with The Multi Talented, Most Celebrated Prosthetic Makeup Artist in The Nigerian Movie Industry, Mr Hakeem Onilogbo (Hakeem Effect).

Editor : Can I meet you?

Hakeem: My name is  Hakeem Onilogbo, but people call me Hakeem Effect, it is my brand name. " Hakeem Effect. "

Editor: Can you tell us very little about yourself?

Hakeem: I was born in the late 70s, I.e 78 to be precise, in Ibadan Oyo state. I am a native of Abeokuta Ogun State. I am from a polygamous Family, Family of 8, I am the 2nd child.

Editor: Can you tell us when you started your business? I mean the prosthetic Make up.

Hakeem: OK, I started like 10 years ago....!

Editor: Wow...Wow...Wow

Hakeem: But the name started ringing a bell like 3 years ago, with the help of the internet.

Editor: So far, what is your biggest achievements?

Hakeem: My biggest achievements...?
Hahahahahahaha "laughs ".

Editor: Yeah , your achievement in the business.

Hakeem: Apart from the multiple awards from within and outside Africa, another biggest achievement is that, I have made up my mind to breach the gab between the Global world and African in the Movie Industry which God has help me to achieve that. Because if you are mentioning names in Nigeria, West Africa and other part of Africa, I think my name come at the top.
Secondly: In Nigeria, the movie industry is divided into 4, we have the Nollywood, the Kannywood, the Igbo Movie industry as well as the Yoruba Movie industry. And again we have 2 cinema's that is the box office and the commercials. I thank God that I am able to work round with them all, these are my achievements.

Editor: I can see you have started moving to the north, I mean to Kannywood for Business. Before it was mainly Nollywood.

Hakeem: Yeah yeah yeah........!

Editor: OK, that's good.

Editor: what are your regrets so far, if any.

Hakeem: The only regret which I can really call a regret is, " the kind of materials use for  prosthetic makeup in other part of the world we don't have them here in Nigeria. It was a regret for me when I started, but it has thought me a lot of lesson's to be able to look for other alternative. Because we don't have anything here in Nigeria, that encourage me to make something out of nothing which has been working for me even to the international standard.

Editor: Wow.....Wow.....Wow, that's a good one. That's a plus for you.

Editor: there are a lot of youths out there who are looking up to you for inspiration, who actually want to be like you, what do you have to tell them? Any word of encouragement for them?

Hakeem: Ah..ah, For those people looking forward to being like Hakeem effect, or you want to venture in to what Hakeem Effect is doing. My advice for you is; you must have passion for that thing first. You know there are turbulence waters in each field you find yourself, but if you are in love with what you are doing you will find every turbulence as a stepping stone for you.  You know a lot of people for instance want to venture into this because  ah..... Hakeem effect is doing this and doing big, it may not be their calling, you know. Sometimes its passion and sometimes you are born with it, its a talent. So you must have passion if you want to be superb at what you are doing. Even if things are not going down well for you , you must have faith in God.
