Court remanded a man for allegedly defiling his neighbors 3 year old daughter

An ikeja magistrate court has remanded a 24-year-old man, Savior Edith to Kirikiri Prison for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s three-year-old daughter. The prosecutor, Insp. Benedict Aigbokhan told the court that the accused, who lives at 19, Ishajimi St., Agege, a suburb of Lagos, defiled the girl on March 23. “The accused called the girl inside his room and defiled her, it was her cry that alerted her mother and the accused was apprehended,” the prosecutor said. He said that the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, ordered that the accused be remanded till April 20 pending determination of his bail application.

  A retired soldier has told an Igando Customary court in Lagos that his wife violently rapes him in the middle of the night. According to the man identified as Gafaru Rodoye, his wife "has turned my boxers to rags as she always tears them to rape me." Speaking in court on Tuesday, Rodoye revealed that his wife, Idiat, with whom he had five children in their 20-year old marriage, always raped him to satisfy her urges. He said: “My wife always rape me; she had turned all my boxers to rags to achieve her selfish aim. I had to run away from my 16-flat building to rent an apartment elsewhere just to avoid her frequent beatings, but she trailed me to my new apartment to fight me. I have reported her severally to different police stations, but it did not yield any positive result. Please, separate us before my wife kills me, my life is not safe with her, I am a pensioner, I need to enjoy the fruit of my labour." The detained  leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, has urged the British Government  to intervene in his case by asking President Muhammadu Buhari to release him from prison. Kanu who is facing treason charge alongside  two other pro-Biafra agitators, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi, approached the British government through his lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor. Kanu, in a letter dated March 24 and addressed to the British High Commissioner in Abuja, described himself as a victim of travesty of justice and gross human rights violation. He insisted that the President Buhari-led administration  has violently abused his fundamental human rights through his prolonged detention in prison custody. President Buhari to depart for U.S today for nuclear summit

President Muhammadu Buhari will leave for Washington DC, USA today to join about 60 other world leaders and heads of international organisations at the 4th Nuclear Security Summit which opens there tomorrow. The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, made this known in a statement yesterday. He said Buhari would, at plenary sessions of the summit dedicated to reinforcing international commitment to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, insist that while Nigeria would continue to sustain that commitment, world powers must respect the right of other countries to the peaceful use of nuclear energy for development purposes. Army captures boko haram's spiritual headquarters in Alargano forest after 10 day battle

MILITARY commanders have claimed a major victory in the war against Boko Haram declaring that Nigerian Army troops have captured the terrorists' spiritual headquarters in Alargano Forest after a fierce 10-day battle.   Over the last week, government forces and Boko Haram fighters have been engaged in pitch battles in Borno State and military authorities say the fighting has now ended with their troops coming out on top. Major General Lucky Irabor, the general officer commanding the Seventh Mechanised Division of the Nigerian Army, said the troops offensive to capture Alargano Forest since March 18 was successfully concluded on Monday.   He said the offensive commenced on March 18 at about 0900 hours with troops of the Third and Seventh Mechanised Divisions, assisted by the Nigerian Air Force (Naf). The Nigerian Army wishes to regrettably inform the public that Colonel Samaila Inusa who was kidnapped on Sunday 27th March 2016, was found dead today at about 6.00pm. Preliminary investigation revealed that most likely the late senior officer was killed same day he was kidnapped by his abductors. This is because the body was found already decomposing around Ajyaita village off Eastern Bypass Kaduna, Kaduna State. Arrangements are in progress to move the body to 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna. May His soul rest in peace, Amen. The hijacker of Egypt airline has been arrested.

The hostage situation at Cyprus' Larnaca airport  has finally ended in arrest of the hijacker, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. The foreign ministry identified the hijacker as Seif Eldin Mustafa in a tweet. It did not provide further details. The foreign ministry reportedly said the hijacker "is not a terrorist, but an idiot". A man who claimed to have an explosive vest had been holding seven people hostage aboard an EgyptAir plane after forcing it to divert to the Mediterranean island during a domestic flight from Alexandria to Cairo. The airline said the plane, flight number MS181, was carrying 56 passengers, including 26 foreigners, and seven crew, as well as a security officer. Minutes before the alleged hijacker was arrested a number of people were seen leaving the plane, walking down the stairs, with one climbing out of a cockpit window, before being led away by security officers. Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike yesterday defended his statement that those coming to the state for the rerun election should “write their will.” Speaking in an interview with Channels Television monitored in Port Harcourt, he told his interviewers that he made the statement which some of his critics believe is an evidence of his support for violence, that he said in reference to those who might have sinister intention. Fielding questions on a wide range of issues, he said it will be difficult for another party to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. The governor noted that the state was in the firm grip of the PDP, besides his administration’s modest achievements in its short period in office. Egyptian Airline With 82 Passengers on Board Hijacked

An Egyptian passenger plane has landed in Cyprus after being hijacked by a man wearing a suicide belt. EgyptAir Flight 181 was on a scheduled journey from Alexandria to Cairo when it veered off course on Tuesday morning. Sources told Reuters that British and Americans passengers were on board but it was unclear if they had been released or were among the four foreigners held hostage as negotiations continued. Androulla Vassiliou, the Cypriot former European Commissioner for Education, wrote on Twitter that the plane landed at 8.50am local time (6.50am BST). “Hijacked aircraft of Egypt Air with 82 passengers landed at Larnaca airport,” she wrote. “We are anxious to learn more.” The number of people on board was later revised to 56 passengers, seven crew and a member of security staff in a statement from EgyptAir.

7 corpse found in a pit in River State

Corpse have been found inside a pit at Obibi community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State. A close source to the community disclose that the unidentified bodies were discovered following fresh violence in the area. The source said, “There is a pit along Obibi where we saw the dead bodies. They are all male and we have reported to the community leaders. There have been heavy gun shooting since last weekend. We don’t know if it was the recent shooting that caused the death of the men. We want the police to come and see things for themselves.” Exquisite online magazine has gathered  that the victims may have been killed during a shootout in Obibi in the community last week. The killings are linked to cult related-violence, which is also believed to be driven by the bitter political rivalry in Rivers State. Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Ahmad Muhammad, said it had not been brought to his attention.

                The girl's bicycle can be seen laying on the ground as authorities investigate the scene of the attack . A four-year-old girl was beheaded in Taiwan in what appears to have been a random knife attack, state media said.  On Monday morning, a 33-year-old man attacked the girl with a cleaver in full view of her mother as they were on their way to a metro station in Taipei, the island's capital,  The mother of the slain child said her daughter had been riding her bike about a meter away from her when it became stuck.  She saw the man approaching and at first thought he was going to help her daughter but he drew his knife and decapitated her. "I saw the suspect slashing my daughter with a cleaver. I immediately grabbed him but I could not pull him away," she said. Soldiers Arrest Boko Haram Terrorists As They Continue Clearance Operations In Borno.......

Troops of 155 Task Force Battalion, 21 Brigade have conducted a clearance operation aimed at clearing  remnants  of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in at Dipcheri, Jere and Chogolo towns. The gallant troops cleared all the three camps successfully without any casualty on own troops. During the operations  the troops  came in contact with elements of the terrorists group and arrested 2 suspected Boko Haram terrorists.  The troops also recovered abandoned vehicles, motorcycles and a bicycle as well as locally made  single and double barrel guns belonging to the terrorists. Clearance operations by various units and formations in Operation Lafiya Dole are ongoing. The  intent  is to ensure all remaining elements of the terrorists on Nigerian soil are eliminated.

Dollar Scarcity: Airlines Increase Airfares in Nigeria by 100%

                Airlines in the country have increased airfares by as much as 100 per cent as a result of the development. A survey of major Nigerian routes flown by foreign airlines indicated that the cost of return tickets had been increased by between 80 per cent and 120 per cent of the previous fares, depending on the carrier, time of booking and the season. The survey cuts across Nigeria-North America routes, Nigeria-South Africa route, and Nigeria-Europe routes. Airfares on the Lagos-London, Abuja-London, Lagos-New York, Lagos-Atlanta, Lagos-Houston, and Lagos-Johannesburg routes were examined. Local airlines operating international flights, especially Arik Air and MedView Airlines, have also increased their airfares.
